As a family photographer who captures the most precious moments of your life, I’ve had my fair share of unexpected challenges. One session that will forever stand out in my memory is Aris’ 13th birthday photo shoot. This day had all the makings of a perfect storm, both literally and figuratively. But as we soon discovered, even the stormiest days can lead to the most radiant outcomes.

When the Weather Changed Our Plans

At that point, I wasn’t sure if we would be able to move forward with the session as planned.

Weather, as unpredictable as it can be, had us on our toes. With the radar showing relentless showers and storms right up to the scheduled start of our photo session, the decision to proceed or reschedule hung heavily in the air. But there’s something to be said about the unpredictable. It often brings surprises beyond our wildest expectations.

Choosing to move forward, we arrived at the location 15 minutes behind schedule, our hearts heavy with uncertainty. Yet, what we found upon arrival could only be described as a miraculous turnaround. The storm had passed, leaving behind no trace of its earlier fury. The concrete was dry, the air was fresh, and the setting sun cast a beautiful glow.
