I'm so glad you're here, stick around, there's so much to see, xo Shenica
I’m your go-to branding photographer and visual hype woman!

As parents, it’s easy to think, “Maybe next year will be better.”
Maybe they’ll smile more.
Maybe they’ll sit still longer.
Maybe they’ll grow out of that awkward stage.
Maybe they’ll lose that missing tooth.
Maybe they’ll finally enjoy having their picture taken.
I hear these thoughts all the time, and they’re completely understandable. We all want everything to feel “just right.”
But here’s something I’ve learned as a Baton Rouge children’s photographer:
There is no perfect age.
Every stage of childhood has something beautiful that’s worth celebrating.

One of the greatest joys of photographing children is seeing how unique each stage of life truly is.
Toddlers are full of curiosity and wonder. They love exploring the world around them, and sometimes the sweetest photos happen while they’re busy discovering something new.
Preschoolers often have big imaginations, contagious laughter, and personalities that shine in every image.
School-age children begin to develop their own style and confidence. Their smiles change, their interests grow, and suddenly they aren’t so little anymore.
There isn’t one age that’s “better” than another.
Every age tells a story you’ll want to remember.

Parents see their children every single day, so it’s easy to miss the little changes happening over time.
One day their tiny hands fit perfectly inside yours.
The next, they’re tying their own shoes.
Their baby curls straighten.
Their cheeks become a little less round.
That adorable gap-toothed smile disappears before you know it.
Childhood doesn’t ask permission before it changes.
Professional portraits freeze these moments before they quietly become memories.
One of the biggest concerns parents have before a session is:
“What if my child won’t cooperate?”
The truth is…
They don’t have to.
Some of my favorite images happen between the poses.
A burst of laughter.
A curious look.
A silly expression.
A tight hug from Mom.
A moment of running through the grass.
Those genuine moments often become the photographs families treasure the most.
Children aren’t meant to perform.
They’re meant to be themselves.

Maybe they’re obsessed with dinosaurs.
Maybe they carry the same stuffed animal everywhere.
Maybe they’re missing two front teeth.
Maybe they can’t stop talking about superheroes or princesses.
These little details may seem ordinary today, but one day they’ll become the very things you miss the most.
Photographs aren’t just about what your child looked like.
They’re about remembering who they were.
I’ve never had a parent tell me they wished they had waited longer to schedule portraits.
But I’ve heard many parents say they wish they had taken more pictures while their children were little.
Life gets busy.
Calendars fill up.
Children continue growing whether we’re ready or not.
If you’ve been waiting for the “perfect age,” this is your reminder that it doesn’t exist.
The best time to photograph your child is exactly where they are today.
Years from now, these images won’t just remind you how they looked.
They’ll remind you how this season of life felt.
And that’s something worth holding onto.
Every child deserves to have their story documented—not because everything is perfect, but because childhood is beautifully, wonderfully real.

Here’s what one mom had to say about her experience:
“Loved working with Shenica! My daughters are typically on the shy side, but they felt so comfortable and had so much fun! The communication from start to finish, the experience, and the photos were 10/10! I would highly recommend her to anyone.”
