I’ve been in business for 13 years.
Portraits. Branding. Family sessions. Kids events. Birthday parties.
And I’ve genuinely loved every single year of it.
Over the years, my business has evolved and so have I. Every year, I pause and ask myself the same questions:
What’s working?
What’s not?
What needs to change?
This year, those questions hit differently.
When Growth Outpaces Your Systems
My business is growing faster than it ever has before. I’m growing personally and professionally in ways I didn’t see coming. And the systems I’ve been using? They can’t keep up anymore. They’re slowing me down. They’re holding me back. And for someone who’s very hands on like me, that’s been frustrating to admit. I read something recently that really hit home: “Tech should support and propel your business forward, not hold you back.”
The Toughest Decision: Upgrading My Photography Business Systems
Making the decision to change my systems has been one of the toughest decisions I’ve made in my business. Honestly, I wish I had done it sooner. But this moment feels like a rebirth.
Here’s the scary part:
Because of this upgrade, I’m losing access to 13 years of blog posts on my current site.
Thirteen years of sessions.
Client stories.
Tips for families.
Education.
Real-life experience.
When I switch my domain to my new website, those posts won’t exist there anymore. That realization was nerve-racking. It almost talked me out of moving forward.
Almost.
Instead, I rolled up my sleeves and got to work. I’ve been manually saving every blog post—copying and pasting them one by one into Google Drive so I don’t lose the knowledge, the words, or the work I’ve poured into this business for over a decade.
It’s time-consuming. It’s a lot of work.
But it’s worth it.
Growth Requires Letting Go
Because growth sometimes requires letting go of what’s familiar so you can build what’s next—better, stronger, and more aligned with where you’re headed.
This upgrade isn’t about starting over because I failed.
It’s about starting fresh because I’ve outgrown where I was.
I can’t get where I’m going with the systems I’ve been using. And I owe it to myself and my clients to build something that supports the level I’m operating at now.
Here we are in 2026, these changes are almost complete!
And I can’t wait to share the new site, the new systems, and what’s next.
This is still the same business.
Just upgraded.
And finally built for where I’m going.
